Leveraging supporters' activist spirit to help fund the fight for our oceans.
CLIENT: SURFERS AGAINST SEWAGE
PROJECT: DIY FUNDRAISING
Surfers Against Sewage is one of the UK’s leading marine conservation charities, known for their grassroots campaigning and activism - yet community fundraising is a relatively new function for them.
They wanted to grow their number of DIY fundraisers by creating a fresh new suite of fundraising resources to inspire, support and equip supporters.
We knew we needed an idea that was rooted in audience insight. So, we looked at the charity’s supporter base and the segments most likely to fundraise.
We dug into what motivates these audiences - from feeling part of something big, to teaching their children how to look after the world around them. We found that a close personal connection to the ocean and the environment is shared by all, but also a spirit and desire to join together and help end sewage and plastic pollution.
From this we knew we had to show that anyone has the power to join in and make a difference and help protect our oceans. From surfers to coastal walkers, wild swimmers to kayakers, cyclists to beach cleaners.
And so, 'Fundraisers Against Sewage' was born. A fundraising platform that puts supporters’ activist spirit front and centre, feels like a movement and inspires individuals to play their part by making a splash both in the water and on land.
We produced an inspiring Fundraising Guide that is packed with all the info needed to get started, fundraising ideas and top tips, together with everything a fundraiser needs to promote their event.
We explored the supporter journey together in a workshop, so that we could create moments and content that Excite and Inspire including a launch animation. And we created a suite of assets that Surfers Against Sewage can use to create ongoing content through Canva.
“WOW!!!! What a massive improvement! The new pack is fantastic! Engaging, spirited, energetic, inspiring!”
